Birds and more birds!

For some reason I've been creating LOTS with birds!  I picked up a Tim Holtz Birdcage Die cut and so it has inspired me with birds!  Take a look.

I cut the birdcage out with Early Espresso Stampin' Up! paper and then embossed it with Ultra Thick embossing powder.  Once that was dry I added some copper alcohol inks to make it look more rustic.  The background paper started out a cream brocade. But I stamped it with Watermark, then embossed with clear, then added early espresso ink with a sponge and misted a bit of turq. Glimmer Mist to finish off the vintage look.

this next card is bolder than my normal color palette.  but it was awesome to use up some old embellishments just sitting there!  I love the Top Note die cut with all the patterned paper in the background.

I do love this color combo.  It's a celery green and then the Not quite Navy from SU.  Very nice.  I used alcohol inks to create the background and then my Notably Ornate stamps from SU.  The fragment on the right side is from Tim Holtz and I added some alcohol inks to the back of it and then stamped 'friends' onto paper, cut it out the same size and glued it on.  I love this technique.

This last card is also with alcohol inks!  But this time I used coarse salt with it to give the pebbled appearance.  I also used the Bird punch from SU that I hadn't tried yet.  It's really beautiful.  I UT'd the bird a couple times to make it look real dimensional.

I'm working on my kids Valentine's class for January and will post that soon.  I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and Happy New year!!  Tomorrow is my 15th Wedding Anniversary!  and how did that happen when I'm only 30!! hehehe....
Hugs,
Kimi
PS-- Please be patient with my photography... I got this fancy new Nikon camera and still don't know how to use it!  I've really got to get better at this!

Hello!!
So only 26 days till Christmas!

And boy oh boy I'm behind on my Christmas cards.  I don't have them finished yet but hope to get a few more done tonight.  But in the mean time... I've been working on these gorgeous tumbled tiles that will be a set of four coasters to give to family.  They turned out gorgeous so I thought I would offer it as a class!

The four tiles will include pads for the back so they will be safe on your coffee table, and also a sweet little paper box that we will make together.  And the flower colors can be changed to suit your decor.

The class is Dec. 12th at 6:30pm and costs $20.
Email me to sign up!
Hope to see you soon.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Hugs,  Kimi

Vintage Christmas Cards

The Vintage Christmas Card Class samples are ready!!  Take a look.

This CARD class is on Monday October 18th at 6:30pm at my house.  The class will include making these three beautiful cards.

I've used the Stampin Up Vintage Christmas paper along with the 'Rejoicing in Christmas' stamp set and my new favorite thing, glass glitter!  Simple, clean and yet very effective.

This Christmas card is so fun using the glitter glass again ( I love this stuff!  Did I say that already?  :-) and also  the Stampin' Up 'Merry Christmas Postcard' stamp.  Sweet!

This last card is also using the Stampin' Up Vintage Christmas Papers and then a couple stamps I had in my stash.  We'll use gold embossing powder, ribbon and smooch to create this beauty.

The card class is $18 for just the class or free with a $40 Stampin' Up purchase.  And please NEVER feel pressure from me to buy Stampin' Up products.  I do love their stuff but like to use a variety of products, supplies and techniques from all over.
Email me at kimi.orton@telus.net if you would like me to reserve a space for you at this Vintage Card Class.

I was inspired by the gorgeous fall colors and came up with this cute flower using a scallop circle punch.  I saw the scallop punch flower in a Stampin' Up magazine and thought the idea would make a cute card!
I hope you enjoy this gorgeous fall day!

September Card Classes

I thought I would post a sample from one of the card classes last month.

I used the Baroque Motifs stamp from Stampin' Up and one of my favorite things, alcohol inks!

This card wasn't from the class but was a similar sketch where I changed up some of the colors.  Super fun!

 Have a great Weekend!

I was looking through old pictures of card examples and found this one.  It's a simple sketch but a goodie!  On the black paper I scored the lines and then sanded them gently to get the pinstripe look.  Enjoy!
